I cannot pass a dog on the street without a pet, a hug and if I’m lucky, a wet kiss.

I spot a dog. We lock eyes. The wagging tail signals “consent” and next thing you know, we are rolling on the sidewalk together. Instant intimacy. No dating, no buying dinner, we cut to the chase. The thing that matters is the love. Unconditional.  Dogs are never anything other than themselves. My dog and I are frequenters of the dog park. That’s where I find inspiration, joy and subject matter. As depressed as I am with current events, I never fail to smile and laugh at their antics. Exuberance, curiosity, openness, playfulness, generosity. Honesty. We share the same values! I am one of them. I am a two legged somewhat hairless canine. The paintings in this series embody the energy and life of these wonderful creatures. I am a figurative painter who now focuses on figures with 4 legs. And tails. The subject matter has undergone a change but the visual preoccupations have held constant: gesture, rhythm, graphic shape, vigorous color and a search for space.
