I am interested in conveying the psychological complexity and subtle dynamics of relationships—between animals, between humans, and between humans and animals. Across these, the underlying issues remain constant: confrontation, connection, dominance, curiosity, and negotiation.

My visual language combines dimensional form with flat, graphic shape. I love flat shape and painterly rendered light and shade equally. Rhythmic, gestural movement is my first concern when considering a subject for a painting. I need to feel that I can dance to the underlying rhythms. It is visceral and instinctual -I need to feel it in my body. My work is bold and direct. I aim to invite the viewer to enter my paintings and become an active participant. I use contrasting color to create a charged space that supports the emotional and narrative tension within the work.

I work primarily in oil on board, canvas, and paper, and occasionally in acrylic on paper.
